Full Description

A pit at the top of the beach next to the cliff side. The west and sout side of the pit had been built up with rocks and a large boulder has closed the pit at the eastern end. The pit was 3.5x2m in length and less than 2m in depth. It had been suggested that the pit was deisgned as a kelp pit as a part of the kelp trade prominent in this region in the C18-C19.

The site was visited and photographed by Jon Haylett on the 11th of November 2013. <1>
