Full Description

A farmstead comprising 2 stone-built round cornered houses, a byre and several small enclosures was seen during a rapid walkover survey by M Wildgoose in 2002 in advance of a proposed woodland creation scheme. It lay about 30m to the west of MHG56703. Both of the houses were 11m long, the eastern being 6m wide, the western 5.5m wide. Both had walls circa 1m + - thick. Lying between the houses, and butting up to the end of the eastern house was a stone built byre, also with rounded corners, which measured 8.5m by 6m over walls 1m thick. A number of small, turf-dyked, enclosures clustered around this group of buildings. <1>
