Full Description
Late 19th century 3-stall cast iron urinal. Located to the rear and covered by the curtilage of the Cat B Listed Ferintosh Free Church. Manufactured by the Saracen Foundry, Macfarlane's Patent in Glasgow. The urinal is prefabricated to a standard design; other similar examples survive elsewhere in Scotland and beyond. This particular pattern is less ornate than some produced by the Saracen Foundry around this time. A crenallated gutter runs along the top of the stalls with water discharged via a dog(?)-head spout. Pipework runs the length of the stalls suggesting a flush mechanism (with a connection to an underground drainage system accessed via a Cameron and Roberton toby cover). Each stall has the words 'Please adjust your dress before leaving' on the facing panel. <1>
