Full Description

At map ref 2041 9054, just above a slight break of slope on a raised shoreline, along a 10-15 metre length of eroded path, a significant amount of flaked quartz, a few pieces of flint and other chalcedonic silica and heat-shattered broken stone had been washed out of the path. The pieces of struck quartz included chalcedonic silica, chips of pebble flints inculding a chunk of fine grained opaque mid-grey flint, red carnelian and jasper. There was one broken scraper and a double platformed flake core identified from the scatter. The finder noted that given the location and the lack of a visible blade element, that the finds were unlikely to be mesolithic in date. <1>
