Full Description
An inscribed stone sundial at Abertarff House in Inverness. The carvings appear to include the date 1729 and the name A[i]lex Fraser of Fairfield on the top of the stone, directly above the face of one of the sundials. There was a sundial on either side of the block of stone. The faces of the sundials have numbers along both sides and along the bottom. From the top left anticlockwise to the top right the numbers read: 6, 7, 8, 9 (in the bottom left hand corner), 10, 11, 12, 1, 2, 3 (in the bottom right hand corner) and 4, 5, 6.
Photographs were taken by Bill Anderson on the 02/01/2015.
