Full Description

Site of a WWI Naval Stores receiving room on Outram Street, Invergordon.

The site was investigated in 2015 as part of the ARCH project 'Invergordon in World War I'. The Masonic Lodge (Lodge Ness 888) received its charter in 1899 and was consecrated in 1901. Valuation rolls record that the Lodge was taken over in World War I by the Army for use as a Detention Hospital. <1>

Early in WWII airmen from the RAF flying boat squadrons were said to have slept on the floor of the Hall. <3>
