Full Description
WWII Nissen Huts on Seabank Road, Invergordon.
The buildings were investigated in 2015 as part of the ARCH project 'Invergordon in World War I'. During WWI this area was used for dockyard accommodation, for the J block hutment. These buildings were removed after WWI, and sometime between then and WWII a large building with Belfast Truss roof (Canmore 348408) was erected, together with a number of nissen huts to the north and south. Most were oriented northwest-southeast, as are these three. The large building is currently a sign shop and garage. Only a small number of the nissen huts survive. However, the middle of the three (Site 525) was badly damaged in the storms of 2015, and is in poor condition. It was erected with an internal frame as well as the external frame, which had an additional layer of corrugated iron. <1>
