182691 882952 Naast 2 JB012: The hut circle was visited by A Welti and J Buchanan in 2009 as part of research for a dissertation on hut circles in Wester Ross. This was part of a degree course overseen by Aberdeen University. The circular stone structure is on a low knoll above a gently sloping natural terrace with rocky outcrops in the vicinity. The site has panoramic views of land and sea. The southern edge has been cut into and robbed of stone, (see sketch). The S entrance terminal is extended. A later small structure overlays the N side of the entrance. The double skinned circular wall has many stone facings visible. Average inner diameter is 7m, outer diameter is 10.5m. The wall thickness is 1.8m and maximum height is 0.7m. The entrance faces east. Entrance width is 1.3m, the length of the passage is 2.8m and and the S terminal is extended. JB012 is one of a cluster of 5 HCs in the gently sloping landscape. JB11 (MHG49718) is at an approximate distance of 100m, JB13 (see MHG49711) at 200m, JB14 (see MHG49712) at 400m. <1> <2>
