"Leave Coirt-chattachan (the old mansion house of the MacKinnons NG62SW 12) wind along the bottoms of the steep hills. Pass by the end of Loch Slappan to the south. See a stone dike or fence called Paraicnam fiadh, or the inclosure of the deer, which seems once to have been continued up a neighbouring hill. In one angle is a hollow ...a pit fall (formerly) covered with boughs for the destruction of the animals chased into it." T Pennant 1772.
