203170 908505 Achiltibuie Post Office 6 CMM006: The hut circle was visited by A Welti and C MacNeilage in 2010 as part of research for a dissertation on hut circles in Wester Ross. This was part of a degree course overseen by Aberdeen University. CMM006 is one of a cluster of 12 circular stone structures on gently sloping ground near to Alt Bad a Chotair. The terrain consists of well grazed rough heather/grassland with marshy areas. All the structures have panoramic views both inland and to the sea and are are around 2000m north of the broch at Achlochan. Field systems both ancient and more recent are visible, and there is a burnt mound close to CMM002. All the 12 circular stone structures are around 2000m north of the broch at Achlochan. CMM006 is in very close proximity to CMM004 (distant 25m) (see MHG57351) and CMM005. (distant 15m) (see MHG57352). CMM003 is 300m distant. The far side of Loch Vatachan is in view from the HC, where there are linear clusters of HC's. A circular shape is indicated; measurements are approximate due to lack of visible stones. There are a few stones showing in the platform banking to N, S, and W, (see sketch and photos). The outer diameter of the platform averages at 12.1m. No wall structure could be asertained. The maximum height of the platform banking is 0.3m. <1> <2>
