Full Description

Centred 406 632.

About 50 years ago, (? c.1795) a small box of weapons was found in a peat moss on Sheader Farm (NG 406 632). On one of them, when cleared of rust, was the name Bocchus, who is said to have been sheriff of Ross-shire of which county Skye was then a part. The weapon which had the name Bocchus seemed to be the principal sword of justice used at Sheriff Courts. The box and arms were given to Lord Alexander Macdonald, grandfather of the present Lord.
NSA 1845.
