Full Description

NG43NE 3 4786 3692.

(NG 4786 3692) Hut Circle (NR)
OS 6"map, (1965)

A circular stone-walled hut eccentrically placed within a contemporary sub-circular enclosure on a W facing slope, with all structural details obscured by peat.
The hut set into the slope measures 8.5m between the centres of a wall spread to c. 2.5m. The simple entrance is in the W.
The enclosure defined by a wall spread to c. 3.5m measures c. 29.0m NE-SW by c. 26.0m transversely and has been partly quarried in the W. A gap in the SW is probably the entrance but another gap in the NW may represent another.
The W part of the enclosure seems to have been built up to form a level area in between the wall in this arc and the hut, but the remainder of the interior shows no sign of levelling. There is no trace of contemporary cultivation in the area.
Visited by OS (C F W) 20 April 1961 and (I S S) 6 October 1971.
