Full Description

NG25NE 4.03 2975 5825.

A row of at least seven buildings, variously depicted on the 1st, 2nd and current editions of the Ordnance Survey maps (Island of Skye &c., Inverness-shire, 1880, 1904, sheet ix), were not located within dense afforestation. Vertical aerial photographs (visible on RAF photographs CPE/UK/175: 1735-6) indicate the presence of strip of land to the E of the buildings, in the manner of a crofting settlement. It may be that this is the site to which, according to local tradition, the Ascrib Islanders were resettled in the mid-nineteenth century.
Visited by RCAHMS (DCC) 18 November 1990.
