Full Description
NG25NE 16.06 272 560.
There are two abandoned farmsteads in this croft, one beside the Waternish road and the other towards the top or E end. The lower farmstead is relatively modern and comprises two buildings, both terraced into the slope, of which the main one is a rectangular cottage, built with mortared rubble and splayed windows on either side of a central W door. It measures 8.6m from NNW to SSE by 4.2m transversely within walls 0.6m thick and 2.4m in height. The smaller structure was a sub-rectangular out-building, also built of mortared rubble. The other farmstead comprised a two-compartment building, an enclosure and two out-buildings, one attached to the enclosure (679) and the other immediately S of the building. The main building is shown as roofed on the 1st edition of the Ordnance Survey map of 1880 (Island of Skye &c., Inverness-shire 1880, sheet xv) and the outbuilding in the N of the enclosure is shown as roofed on the 2nd edition of the Ordnance Survey map of 1904 (Islamd of Skye &c., Inverness-shire 1904, sheet xv).
