Full Description

There are several boundaries, defining the limit of the crofting-township, of which all but two are already recorded on the current Ordnance Survey 1:10,000 scale maps. (1983). The important missing boundary which runs from the Stein Burn at the N end (NG 2711 5676) to just short of a mapped boundary at NG 2751 5601. This boundary is a continuation of one that also defines the upper limit of Brae Stein (see NG25NE 15.11). This bank, which is constructed of earth and stone and stands to more than 1m in height in places, cuts the banks which delimit the ridged land to the E of the crofts (NG25NE 16.34) at NG 2731 5647. There is also the patchy trace of a bank along the S side of the Stein Burn from NG 2717 5678 to NG 2738 5686.
Visited by RCAHMS (PJD) 22 November 1990.
