Full Description
Situated on a peat-covered terrace, some 400m E of the Bay River and 100m E of the public road to Waternish, is a roughly circular heap of stones and an enclosure, defined by intermittent lengths of orthostatic boulders, sticking out of the peat. The heap of stones measures 11.5m in diameter and about 0.7m in height, amongst which there are lines of stones and the reduced remains of a hut; two lambing pens occupy the middle of the heap and the N side is overlain by peat. The enclosure occupies the terrace to the S of the stone-heap; its N side runs off from the W side of the heap to the edge of the terrace, which runs along the slope below the rocky edge of the terrace. Other lengths of sub-peat dyke were traced in peat-cuttings to the N of the mound.
