Full Description
NG47SE 10 468 706.
E of Lochan nan Dunan and the main Staffin to Kilmaluag road, on top of a large hill, are the remains of a fort. It consists of two enclosures separated by a stack 12m high.
Enclosure 1 measures 35m N-S and 28m W-E. It overlooks the land on a 55m high slope in the W and 15m in the E; to the N are 39m high cliffs. The wall is 2m wide and 0.6m in height in the NW and S. The entrance is in the W. A grass-grown circular enclosure lying in the W arc measures 8m in diameter.
Enclosure 2 measures 32m N-S and 49m W-E. It is situated on top of a more gentle slope only 10m high in the N, S and E and lower than enclosure 1. The wall survives as a grass-grown bank except in the N and W being 0.6m wide and 0.3m high. The entrance may be in the E. A modern house, now ruinous, in the S arc S of the stack is a small pit measuring 1.2m N-S and 0.8m W-E similar to the one at Dunnan na Airsuildh.
