Full Description

NG42SW 8 410 209.

A drystone built structure, apparently subterranean, cut into clean wind-blown sand. It appears to consist of a narrow, curving passage at least 1.0m deep. Flat slabs which may have lintelled the passage lie nearby on an old stack base. The structure was discovered during new ploughing in 1982. The area had been under improved pasture since living memory. A few unidentifiable pot sherds, scraps of flints, bone and shell were noted from the upcast caused by part-emptying of the passage by the farmer Mr Macrae's son. It has since been backfilled.
Visited by RB Gourlay, Highland Region Archaeologist, 25 February 1982.
