(NG 472 376) Varragill: depopulated by 1877. (OS 6"map, Inverness-shire, Island of Skye, 1st ed., {1877})

The depopulated township of Varragill is situated at the junction of two streams in a valley off the W bank of the River Varragill. It comprises a group of about 12 ruined houses, some exceeding 60ft in length, and enclosures, in fairly good condition, with lazy-beds and outer enclosures in evidence.

Four unroofed buildings, two of which are L-shaped, a length of wall and a head-dyke is depicted on the 1st edition of the OS 6-inch map (Inverness-shire, Isle of Skye 1881, sheet xxix). Eleven unroofed buildings, some field walls and a head-dyke are shown on the current edition of the OS 1:10000 map (1988).
