(NJ 0675 2840) Supposed Site of the Roman Station Tuessis (R)

Tuesis is the name given by Ptolemy, in the second quarter of the 2nd. century A.D., to a 'locus' (authorised tribal meeting-place) of the Vacomagi. It lay on or near the River Spey (Tuesis Flumen) but the information available is too slight to enable it to be located accurately. Wright (1852) says that it lay "perhaps at Cromdale." No remains were found in 1871, according to the Name Book (1871).
