Access Audit 136 - HAW 11/2003
NJ02NW 8 0085 2680. On the E facing slopes of Laggan Hill is a cairn of bare stones measuring about 13.0m in diameter and about 1.0m high. Exposed in the centre of the cairn is a cist oriented NNW to SSE and measuring internally 1.6m long by 0.8m wide by 0.6m deep.
The end slabs are 1.0m high (Information from G A Dixon, 13 Thirlestane Road, Edinburgh)
Surveyed at 1/10,000.
Visited by OS (R L) 8 February 1971.
Period should be Bronze Age (because of cist)
Site type should also include CIST
Cist is well preserved, measuring 1.8m by 1m, the two end slabs rising into 'gables' above the level of the lower side slabs (Oram 1996)
