NH85SE 11 8553 5290.
Cairn Visible on OS APs 67.095, 285-6: flown May 1967.

A large embanked cairn of Wessex-type, known locally as 'Hangman's Hill', situated on level ground at 100' OD. on the N bank of the River Nairn. The mound is composed of an admixture of earth and water-worn stones from the river and measures 25m in diameter and 3.3m in height. Around the base of the mound is an earth and stone bank c. 33m NW-SE by 30m transversely, 3.5m in width and 0.6m in height, which is clearly contemporary.
Surveyed at 1:2500. Visited by OS (R L) 7 January 1971.
