Full Description

An Early Bronze Age, decorated flat axe (Coles' type Bb), found near Nairn (NH 88 56) was purchased for the NMAS in 1880 (Acc No: DA 8). It measures 10.75 ins in length, 6 ins in greatest breadth and 3/8 ins in thickness, and belongs to Megaw and Hardy's Class I(2).

(Nairn variant of Migdale type). Near Nairn, Nairnshire. Single find. Flat axe, badly corroded on one face, gritty, green. Length 269mm, butt 39mm, cutting edge 144mm, weight over 1000 gms. NMAS DA 8.
