There is a standing stone with a hole in it in the middle of a stone circle at Applecross.
J J Vernon 1911.
No trace of this stone circle and standing stone could be found, but according to Mr. Macrae, (Mr Macrae, Blind Institute, Inverness) around 1656 bulls were being sacrificed in Applecross to pagan gods, at these stone circles. After this practice was stamped out by the clergy, the stones making up these circles were destroyed.
