Full Description

There are traces of ironworks at Tollie on Loch Maree. (D W Kemp 1887) Some small fragments of slag are found among the shingle in Tollie Bay. Mr Macadam has analysed a sample of this slag, and is of the opinion that it is lime-kiln slag. (J H Dixon 1886)
It is believed that this iron was worked at the same time as the Red Smiddy. (See NG 87 NE 2 - probably operated between 1610 and 1668). (W I Macadam 1893)
D W Kemp 1887; J H Dixon 1886; W I Macadam 1893.

No trace. Visited by OS (J T T) 3 October 1964.
