Clachuil - Hollowed stone, The name comes from a stone, hollowed out as if for 'crocking' barley, which may still be seen at the Inn of Clachuil.

In eastern end of Inn is a large boulder stone having a round hole in the centre, 'capable of containing an English quart'.
