Full Description

Achanna Deabharan (NAT). OS 6"map, 2nd ed., Ross and Cromarty, (1906)

'Achanna Deabharan' is name applied to a 'small piece of pasture where formerly stood some few houses, close to E side of Lochanan Dheabharan and about a quarter mile E of Meall nan Clach Geala...'
Name Book 1875

The depopulated settlement of "Achanna Deabharan" comprises the dry-stone remains of 5 rectangular buildings extant to an average height of 0.7m, the grass covered footings of a further two buildings, and the armorphous remains of three shielings.

Four unroofed shieling-huts in an area of cultivation are depicted on 1st edition of OS 6-inch map (Ross-shire and Cromartyshire 1881, sheet xxii). Seven unroofed shieling-huts are shown on the current edition of the OS 1:10560 map (1969).
