Full Description

'A' - At ND 0797 5638, on top of a slight knoll some 60 m SW of an old sheepfold are the mutilated remains of an enclosure, It measurses about 11m in diameter and is formed by a turf bank about 4m wide and 0.6m high. The entrance was probably in the E, where there is a mutilated gap, some 4m wide.
'B' - At ND 0791 5631, some 150m SW of the old sheepfold, are the remains of a subrectangular enclosure. It measures approximately 23m E-W by 24m transversely and is formed by a spread bank of earth and stone about 3.0m wide and 0.4m high. The SE side of the enclosure has been obliterated. The interior of this enclosure is in a very mutilated condition, too vague for interpretation.

OS 6"map, (1963)

The published feature at ND 0797 5638 is a heather-covered hut circle, measuring approximately 9.0m in diameter within a wall spread to 3.0m and up to 0.6m high; a poorly preserved entrance is in the E. Erosion of the wall on the W reveals the rubble content.
The published feature at ND 0791 5631 is a complex of structures, mainly turf-covered, but with heather and reeds present. The main feature is a sub-circular enclosure an estimated 12.0m across within a stony bank up to 2.0m broad by 0.4m high in the N half but elsewhere vague; a definite entrance break is in the E. Abutting the W side of the enclosure is a depression 4.0 by 3.0m; a ruined wall extends from the west side of this depression in an ESE direction for 27.0m before fading. At ESE end of the depression and against the exterior of the enclosure is a vague structural footing 4.0m by 2.0m.
This latter structure or series of structures cannot be classified as to date on purpose. It may be the remains of a homestead, or possibly associated with the nearby deserted farmstead.
Revised at 1:10 000.
Visited by OS (J M) 30 June 1981.
