Full Description
NH66NE 33 6570 6844
(Suspension bridge of wire rope and unstiffened deck type with wooden pylons). Built 1971. Wire-rope cables, rod suspenders, wooden deck, wire mesh railings. Public footbridge.
J R Hume 1977b.
The suspension bridge over the River Averon was swept away in the heavy October rains of 1993. At the time only the 2 wire ropes remained with a few of the wooden planks of the walkway dangling into the river. (Alness and District Times, November 1993). There was also a picture on the front page of the newspaper of the remains of the bridge. <2>
