Full Description
On a natural knoll to the E of the Maryburgh Roundabout a small group of flints, including a scraper, was found, during observation on the Inverness to Dingwall pipeline. The area was stripped by bulldozer preventing any features being recorded. The flints came from a disturbed soil. The subsoil here was a fine soft yellow sand. At one point, as sketched & photographed , the flint scatter lay over a thick dark brown humic silt with occasional charcoal flecks no more than 30mm thick. This lay above a complicated sequence of gravel over clay over till, the clay being in fine lenses. <1> <2>
