Kildary, Smithy
The existing one-storey workshop and stable with byre and hay loft was built in 1889 of red sandstone with a slate roof. The smithy was closed in 1966 on retirement of Mr Charles Urquhart (b. 1903), the builder's (Mr William Urquhart) grand-son. The blacksmiths shop, stable/byre and barn was demolished in mid-1987.There was also a dwelling, open-sided implement shed, garage and loft related to the blacksmiths, but these were not recorded on the date of visit.
