Full Description

NH76NE 45 7961 6869.

The Nigg ferry crossing is well documented with references to use by King Robert the Bruce and King James IV. The ferry crossing is part of the route along the east coast of Scotland linking the Black Isle at Cromarty and then from Chanonry Point to near Fort George. The current site of the pier at Nigg preserves the likely landing point of this early ferry crossing. Dunskeath Castle, a fortified site overlooks and protects the crossing point. See MHG8444. <1>
