Full Description
The late C18 former courthouse and prison in Cromarty.
ARCHITECT: George Ross c1780
Clock by John Ross of Tain 1782
Bell of 1771-inscription reads "S.DIMAS.CARRACA.ANNO D.1771"
The building was listed at Category A in 1971. The courtroom, priosn, clock tower an gate piers were all specifically mentioned in the supporting listing description.
It is now in use as a museum.

The building was reviewed following a site visit in 2015 as part of a Historic Scotland nationwide review of purpose-built court houses in 2014-16. It was proposed that the statutory address be amended. <2>
The statutory address was amended by Historic Environment Scotland with effect from 13/01/2017. <3>
