Full Description

NH76NE 4 7737 6526.
Enclosure (NR) OS 6" map, (1959)

This is a ring enclosure with no trace of an entrance. The area enclosed is 62' in diameter; and the bank is now 12' wide and 1' high. In 1871 the bank was about 2'6" high on the outer side and 1'8" within. It is composed of earth and stones and is now under cultivation, and is rapidly being ploughed out. Since it is obviously not a fort, a hut circle, or a stock enclosure, Woodham, who visited it on 17th September 1954, suggests that it might be a wind-break in which tents were pitched.
Name Book 1871; A A Woodham 1956; Information from A A Woodham to OS.

This circular enclosure, situated half-way up the gentle slope of a hill, is now almost ploughed out. The spread of the earthen bank is c.5.0m, and survives to a height of 0.3m; the estimated diameter taken from the centre of the encircling bank is 20m.
Revised at 1/2500. Visited by OS (R B) 21 January 1966.

This "enclosure", on a N-facing slope is defined by a circular
bank spread to c.5.0m by ploughing and measuring c.17.0m in diameter between its centres. It is similar in every respect to NH76NE 5. Probably a hut circle.
Visited by OS (A A) 7 January 1971.

Gone.
RCAHMS 1979.
