An old stone coffin containing human remains was removed about 1869. The site is within 30m of a building, Torranakist, the name of which, though applied merely to a labourer's cottage, is significant. There is no further info, but see Cairn of Howe (ND06SE 3).
Name Book 1872; Visited by OS (J H) 17 June 1965.

No trace can be found of this cist and no info can be gained as to its association with any cairn - not even the Cairn of Howe, q.v.
Visited by OS (R D) 24 March 1965.
