Full Description
Cairn (NR). OS 6"map, (1962)
A heathergrown cairn 11m in diameter and about 1m high.
RCAHMS 1911, visited 1909; Visited by OS (E G C) 31 May 1961
There is some doubt whether this artificial stony mound is a cairn. The situation on a slight false crest in open moorland is unremarkable. The mound is heather- covered with a conical rather than a 'bowl shaped' profile, and no cist or kerb is exposed. Apart from its somewhat larger size, it is undistinguishable from the three or four clearance heaps in the vicinity.
Visited by OS (J B) 14 January 1977
What may be a cairn is situated on a false crest on the gently undulating southern slopes of Cnoc Dail-chairn. The conical stony mound measures about 9m in diameter and 1m in height.
(KILD91 273)
Visited by RCAHMS (DCC) 5 May 1991.
