Full Description

A circular, stone-walled hut measuring 8m in diameter between the centres of a wall almost obliterated by peat. The ill-defined entrance is in SE.
Surveyed at 1:10,000. Visited by OS (I S S) 16 March 1972.

(ND 0582 6058) Settlement (NR) (8 hut circles shown.)
OS 1:10,000 map, (1975)

The hut circle is as described by previous OS field investigator.
There is no evidence of field clearance in form of heaps or banks of stone, and no lynchets can be identified in vicinity of hut. The adjoining area is dry, S-facing and undoubtedly cultivable. The heather cover is smooth and uniform throughout, and is typical of cover found in field plots within field systems of Sutherland; this contrasts with uneven heather and peat growth in surrounding moorland. It appears that there was cultivation associated with this and many other hut circles in NW Caithness, and absence of clearance merely indicates an absence of stones which needed to be cleared. Visited by OS (N K B) 24 September 1981.
