Full Description
NC90SW 3 90 04.
An urn of food vessel type was found in a grave in a garden at Brora. It measures 5 1/2 ins in height and 6 ins in diameter, ornamented round the shoulder.
Other urns seem to have been deposited nearby but only fragments of them were recovered. It was exhibited at the National Museum of Antiquities, Edinburgh, 13th March, 1911, by R J Serjeantson, Troughend, Brora.
Proc Soc Antiq Scot 1911.
No further information. The food vessel (Accession No 1909.1) is now in the Dunrobin Museum, Golspie.
Visited by OS (E G C) 8 April 1962.
A loose label states that the food vessel was found at Brora in 1909 and was donated by R J Sergeantson; but local information indicates that it was found with a burial when the S part of the Links Hotel was built c.1902.
Information from TS of Catalogue of Dunrobin Museum, by A S Henshall.
