(NC 9735 1877) Hut Circle (NR)
OS 6"map, Sutherland, 2nd ed., (1908)

A further hut circle was found during field investigation.
Visited by OS (W D J) 18 May 1960.

The two huts, A and B, at corrected plan positions NC 9734 1878 and NC 9729 1879, respectively, are situated in the birch wooded, lower slopes of a SW facing hillside. Later cultivation contemporary with deserted crofts has encroached upon the area, and there is no trace of a field system associated with the huts. There is some later stone clearance piled over and against the wall of hut B. The huts were, apparently, of similar form and robust build; they are now much reduced and obscured, with 'A' having deteriorated the more. An entrance cannot be identified in either.
'A', levelled into the slope, is about 14.0m diameter overall. The wall is only readily seen in the S half, where it remains as scant, overgrown rubble with some large boulders lying displaed; elsewhere the hut is best recognised by the scarp formed by the cutting into the slope.
'B', set on a change of slope, is about 12.5m NW-SE overall; the transverse dimension is not assured but is certainly less. The hut wall is severely depleted and obscured in the NE arc; elsewhere it is a stony spread, with some large boulders in evidence, of varying width 1.5 - 2.5m and standing to 0.5m maximum. There is a mutilation gap in the SW. Re-surveed at 1:10,560.
Visited by OS (J M) 18 May 1976.
