(NC 9959 1849) Enclosure (NR)
OS 6"map, (1964)
A small sub-rectangular enclosure abutting the S side of an old track. Visited by OS (W D J) 21 May 1960.
This is a reduced, circular stone-walled hut circle occupying a sheltered position in rising broken ground open to the SE. The hut is about 9.5m diameter internally. The wall, peat-covered generally, is vague in the N arc but otherwise indicates a main width of 1.2m that expands to 1.8m at an entrance from the E. Some largish stones are evident in the wall construction particularly in its exterior in the S half. Associated agriculture is noted by occasional mound and rickles of field clearance on the hillside ascending from the S - no cultivation plots are discernible. About 45.0m S of the hut, on the slope, is a level circular patch, 11.0m diameter, slightly raised from its surround and with some stone in evidence, which may be remains of another hut circle.
Revised at 1/10,000.
Visited by OS (J M) 8 July 1976.
