Description
Trial trenching and subsequent excavation was carried out by S Farrell at Lochloy, Nairn, during phases 6-9 of work at a proposed housing development. This followed on from work conducted in 2002 and 2003. Fifty-eight trenches, all 2m in width, were excavated. Based on the findings of these seven areas were subsequently selected for open-area excavation. Due to heavy ploughing over the site, most of the archaeological features revealed were very shallow. Most of the features were dated to the Bronze Age, although one was thought to be early neolithic, some were early medieval and two were C19. <1>
