Description

In June 2004 a side-scan sonar survey was carried out in the Sound of Mull under the umbrella of the Sound of Mull Mapping Consortium. The survey was carried out on board the dive charter vessel "Gaelic Rose" and covered approximately 25.7 square kilometres of seabed in areas of high archaeological potential, recording most of the known wreck sites. The survey rig included a high-resolution shallow-water multbeam system set to operate at a frequency of 293 KHz and a dual-frequency Klein 3000 side-scan sonar (100 KHz and 500KHz). Further technical details are available in the project monograph. <1><2>
