Description

A desk based assessment and walkover survey of the site of a proposed wind farm southeast of Bettyhill was undertaken by Highland Archaeology Services in July 2012. Features were assessed for possible direct impacts – that is, actual physical effects on archaeological features of all types caused by the construction of the wind-farm itself, cabling connections and access track, and any associated excavations. A determination was made for recorded and visible sites and areas, as well as areas where, although no archaeology was visible on the surface, there is potential for buried archaeological remains. It weas possible to check all areas of the development area on the ground. However, heather was quite deep across some of the sites and this could have obscured some features. <1>
