Description
The Cnoc Geal WGS survey area covers 182 ha of land south of Grudie at the west end of Loch Luichart. The survey area is bounded on its north side by the River Bran and rises southwards over a series of west-east aligned rocky ridges. The ground is extremely rocky and poorly drained. Vegetation consists of wet heath and bog communities dominated by heather, cross-leaved heath, deer grass and bog myrtle. There are occasional areas of grass and bracken on better-drained slopes. The land is currently used as rough pasture for sheep. The ground conditions for field survey were generally good with low vegetation except in the areas of bracken and among birch trees at the northern edge of the survey area. <1>
