Full Description

NH69NE 2 6689 9831.

Only a pile of loose stones remain of the island in Loch Buie (? Buidhe - NH 65 98) which was inhabited in 1630 (Gordon 1813).
R Gordon 1813; F O Blundell 1913.

No trace and no local knowledge of an island in Loch Buidhe.
Visited by OS (R L) 4 November 1969.

There is no trace of an island in Loch Buidhe; there is a dam at E end of loch which has raised the level between 1m and 2m. Air photograph (Visible on RAF 106G/Scot/UK 166: 3156; flown 23 August 1946) shows an amorphous submerged feature at NH 6689 9831, significantly at a change of direction in the parish boundary. This may be the island to which Blundell refers.
