Laga (NM 631 610) was cleared of its 8 tenants by Sir James Milles Riddell. <1>

NM66SW 12 Centred on 632 610
------
Remains of the Laga township are situated along the shore of Laga Bay, associated with extensive remains of the cultivated fields above the B 8007 road. Laga already had a sizeable population in 1716, when 10 men over the age of 16 were recorded. The settlement was later depicted on Alexander Bruce’s Plan of Loch Sunart in 1733 and Roy’s Map of 1747-55.
Field Verification Project (West Lochaber) - J Robertson, 03/2004
------
Most of this settlement lies outwith the SSSI. The beach was almost certainly used for pulling up boats and may have been used for burning kelp. A large building (NM 6365 6101), either a store or a boat shed, was shown here in 1875. Another building was shown at NM 6377 6100 together with a small enclosure. This has been a desk assessment area.
J Wordsworth, SSSIs, Scottish Natural Heritage, 1993

A township comprising eight unroofed buildings, two of which are long buildings, one partially roofed long building, five roofed buildings, six enclosures a sheepfold, some field walls and a head-dyke, of which the portion to the W may show two phases of construction, is depicted on the 1st edition of the OS 6-inch map (Argyllshire 1875, sheet xxvi). Eleven roofed buildings, several enclosures, some field walls and the head-dyke are shown on the current edition of the OS 1:10000 map (1973).
