Full Description

Eight Viking penannular armlets of silver were found in 1872 in a cist in the graveyard of Kirk o' Banks (ND27SE 6), during digging of a drain along the cart track on N side of the chapel. Human bones were also found.
Five armlets are in the NMAS (Acc Nos: IL 114-8) and three are in Thurso Museum.

The three armlets are still Thurso Museum, described as 'Viking Armlets of Silver - date about 1000 AD'.
Visited by OS (R B) 1 March 1965.
