NH70SW 1 74 02.
(NH 74430225) An island in Loch Gynag is said to contain remains, still traceable, of a 'castle'.
NSA (Rev G Shepherd, written 1835) 1845.
No trace of buildings could be found on either of the two islands in Loch Gynag. When an unsuccessful attempt was made to drain the loch c. 1925, Mr Macpherson (R Macpherson, Pitmain Lodge, Kingussie) noted " a circular pile of stones about 2.0 m in diameter at the east end of the loch" No trace of a causeway was seen. This feature, possibly a crannog, could not be located on field investigation as the level of the loch has now risen. Mr Macpherson could not give an accurate siting.
