Full Description

A probable still bothy is located at NH 18172 49954 within a rocky gully at the foot of a waterfall, NW of the enclosures and shieling group of Allt Creagan nam Gobhar. It was recorded by NOSAS in 2007 as part of the Scotland's Rural Past Project.

Site 489 The remains of a small crudely constructed, rectangular stone building sits snugly between outcrop and the edge of the burn, the outcrop forming the SW side of the building within the gully. The building is divided into two compartments, the larger N compartment some 3m x 3m internally, the NW corner being rounded, well built and standing to 1.2m in height. The more substantial NE wall stands to a maximum 0.5m high. The smaller compartment measures 3.5m x 1.5m and is largely collapsed although an entrance with an external step can be seen at the SE end. Adjacent to the entrance is a crude dry stone construction, sub circular in shape measuring 1.3m overall x 0.8m deep with a square aperture in the top some 0.7m wide. It is probably a later feature. <1>
