Full Description

A water pipe to the north of Glensgaich, Fodderty, probably constructed for a hydro-electric scheme in 1904 was visited during a walkover survey by C Dagg prior to a new hydro-electric scheme in 1999. The intake for this was on the Allt a Bhealaich Mhoir (although it was not actually located during the survey) further to the north. It was buried shallowly and could easily be traced for the first kilometre. In addition the pipes were exposed as they crossed several peaty gullies. Soith of the Cnoc nan Each Mor a greater depth of peat or soil must have allowed the pipe to be buried deeper as there was generally no trace on the surface. The pipes were in short sections of cast iron, some exposed sections of which were broken. <1>

The line can be traced for much of its length on aerial photos but becomes increasingly indistinct the further south it goes until it disappears entirely.
